So you want to learn to Skydive....

YUSPC exists to give members of the university to opportunity to perform parachute jumps and to learn to skydive at subsidised rates to the normal prices available.

Before you can jump you must :

• Be a member of the Universtity of York.
• Have valid AU membership.
• Be able to complete a medical form, most people can self declare, where this is not the case the mediacal declaration form must be signed by a doctor.

Prices (if only everything were free!)

The following is a list of prices for the current members of the York University Sport Parachute Club. Take advantage of these prices, as it is by far one of the cheapest way to learn how to skydive, but to do this, you first need to join the club.

Membership

• YUSPC Membership: A mere £15 will let you join our club, and enjoy the subsidised prices we offer our members.

Course Prices

• RAPS Initial Training - This method of learning to skydive costs only £175 (which is the lowest its been for years!!). The price includes the initial training you need to perform your first jump and the first three jumps! The price also includes kit hire and insurance, for the weekend,and British Parachute Association (BPA) temporary student membership.
• Accelerated Freefall (AFF) - YUSPC does not subsidise the AFF training method, as doing so would cost the club way too much, but we have managed to negotiate a lower price with our dropzone, so please contact the committee for more information on prices regarding this training method

Jump Prices

For more information on prices, and how it all works, contact any member of the committee, and we happily give you more information on how you go about buying jump tickets, and the likes. Below is a list of the prices for jumping and kit hire:

• Jumps: Jumps at Target Skysports cost £35.00 for RAPS jumps! HOWEVER the YUSPC offers subsidised jumps to all of their members!
• We give members a generous subsidy on ALL the jumps they do
• Student Jump Subsidies: After your first jump, being a member of the YUSPC means that you pay £20 for all jumps of your student jumps, which is almost half the price of what everyone else has to pay!!! (How great is that?) Note: Kit Hire is included in this cost.
• Qualified Jump Subsidies: YUSPC will subsidise your post Cat-8 jumps to a mere £10 per jump. This is almost half the amount that everyone else needs to pay (£19.50). Pretty cool, eh?
• Kit Hire Subsidies: Kit Hire is also subsidised to make the price of jumps for qualified people without their own rig that slight bit cheaper. Instead of paying the £15 quid Hib charges for kit hire, YUSPC subsidises the price of kit hire by £3 so you only need to pay £12 for your kit hire.
• ALSO... the YUSPC will pay for your first RAPS freefall jump. This is because for the RAPS progrssion system, getting onto freefall is a major achievement as many people tend to get stuck on Dummy Pulls. Furthermore, your first freefall jump is one that you won't forget too quickly, and to make you feel even happier, the club will pay it for you!

Miscellaneous

• Petrol Money: Most trips down to Target Skysports will be in a club member's cars. To give drivers an incentive to drive down, and to cover part of the cost of petrol that they need to get there in the first place, we think that £5 per person for the trip down and back is a decent amount, it won`t dent the passenger's bank balance that much, but will cover part of the driver's petrol costs.
• Learn to Pack! - If you get a packing certificate, Hibaldstow will pay you £4 for every parachute you pack. So if you get your packing certificate, you can help pay for your jumps and other cost for the weekend down at the dropzone. (Note: as a student, you tend to spend quite a long time sitting around either waiting for the weather, or waiting for your next jump, so you might as well do something worthwhile in this time...)
• Merchandise: All sorts of club merchandise is available (e.g. hoodies, long t-shirts, etc...). For more information on this email the club, and we'll let you know what the next set of merchandise will be and when we'll be ordering it. We can also give you help on where to order jump-suits and other parachuting equipment.
